【摘要】:Thisinternationalstandarddefinesthemechanical,electrical,timing,andprotocolrequirementsoftheSCSIparallelinterfacetoallowconformingdevicestointeroperate.TheSCSIparallelinterfaceisalocalI/Obusthatmaybeoperatedoverawiderangeoftransferrates.TheobjectivesoftheSCSIparallelinterfacearea)Toprovidehostcomputerswithdeviceindependencewithinaclassofdevices.Thus,differentdiskdrives,tapedrives,printers,opticalmediadrives,andotherdevicesmaybeaddedtothehostcomputerswithoutrequiringmodificationstogenericsystemhardware.Provisionismadefortheadditionofspecialfeaturesandfunctionsthroughtheuseofvendor-specificoptions.Reservedareasareprovidedforfuturestandardization.b)ToprovidecompatibilitysuchthatproperlyconformingSCSI-2devicesmayinteroperatewithSCSI-3devicesgiventhatthesystemsengineeringiscorrectlydone.ProperlyconformingSCSI-2devicesshouldrespondinanacceptablemannertorejectSCSI-3protocolextensions.SCSI-3protocolextensionsaredesignedtobepermissiveofsuchrejectionsandthusallowtheSCSI-2devicestocontinueoperationwithoutrequiringtheuseoftheextension.Theinterfaceprotocolincludesprovisionfortheconnectionofmultipleinitiators(SCSIdevicescapableofinitiatinganI/Oprocess)andmultipletargets(SCSIdevicescapableofrespondingtoarequesttoperformanI/Oprocess).Distributedarbitration(i.e.,bus-contentionlogic)isbuiltintothearchitectureofSCSI.AdefaultprioritysystemawardsinterfacecontroltothehighestprioritySCSIdevicethatiscontendingforuseofthebusandanoptionalfairnessalgorithmisdefined.Thisstandarddefinesthephysicalattributesofaninput/outputbusforinterconnectingcomputersandperipheraldevices.Figure1isintendedtoshowthegeneralstructureofSCSIstandards.Thefigureisnotintendedtoimplyarelationshipsuchasahierarchy,protocolstack,orsystemarchitecture.ThisinternationalstandardisintendedasanalternatetotheSCSI-3ParallelInterfaceStandard.Thisinternationalstandard,inadditiontocontainingalltheinformationintheSCSI-3ParallelInterfaceStandardcontainsinformationandspecificationsforLVDandfast-40alongwithmanyotherimprovements.
