【摘要】:Thistestmethodisapplicabletoassesstheuniformityofconcreteandtodelineatezonesofpoorqualityordeterioratedconcreteinstructures.Thistestmethodisapplicabletoestimatein-placestrength,providedthatarelationshiphasbeenexperimentallyestablishedbetweenpenetrationresistanceandconcretestrength.Sucharelationshipmustbeestablishedforagiventestapparatus(seealso9.1.5),usingsimilarconcretematerialsandmixtureproportionsasinthestructure.UsetheproceduresandstatisticalmethodsinACI228.1Rfordevelopingandusingthestrengthrelationship.Note18212;Sincepenetrationresultsmaybeaffectedbythenatureoftheformedsurfaces(forexample,woodenformsversussteelforms),correlationtestingshouldbeperformedonspecimenswithformedsurfacessimilartothosetobeusedduringconstruction.Additionalinformationonthefactorsaffectingpenetrationtestresultsandsummariesofpastresearchareavailable.,Steelprobesaredrivenwithahigh-energy,powder-actuateddriver,andprobesmaypenetratesomeaggregateparticles.Probepenetrationresistanceisaffectedbyconcretestrengthaswellasthenatureofthecoarseaggregate.Steelpinsaresmallerinsizethanprobesandaredrivenbyalowenergy,spring-actuateddriver.Pinsareintendedtopenetratethemortarfractiononly;therefore,atestinwhichapinstrikesacoarseaggregateparticleisdisregarded.Thistestmethodresultsinsurfacedamagetotheconcrete,whichmayrequirerepairinexposedarchitecturalfinishes.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheresistanceofhardenedconcretetopenetrationbyeitherasteelprobeorpin.1.2ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnonconformancewiththestandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardstatements,seeSection7.
